WICKED!!!

it all started early spring with rehearsals for a simple 1st grade production of the wizard of oz...hope's assignment (she didn't volunteer, she was assigned) as one of the narrators of the school play quickly turned into a full-fledged obsession with anything wizard of oz, anything wicked, anything GREEN!

sometime during the whole rehearsal period, we took a trip to virginia/DC and we had to stop at the smithsonian to see dorothy's ruby slippers...the actual slippers worn by judy garland. the scarecrow's costume and script were also displayed at the american history museum.

finally, on may 2, the 1st graders of stevenson ranch elementary school presented their highly anticipated production of THE WIZARD OF OZ...they were GREAT!!!

once the wizard of oz play was over, i thought all the hype would die down, but the girls in hope's book club chose to read THE WIZARD OF OZ by l. frank baum. it was a pretty long book, so when she finished, i rewarded her with the soundtrack to WICKED...hope and abi LOVED it...they had the whole thing memorized within a few weeks!

here the girls are at the grove's WICKED day. it was soooooo hot that particular day, but they waited over two hours out in the sun to watch some of the l.a. cast members sing.

we ran into auntie christina (another avid fan) and she gave the girls a nice wicked poster and helped them get the wizard's autograph

and last night, the girls FINALLY got to see WICKED the musical!!! andrew & i have seen it before and we loved it the first time, but it was even more enjoyable watching our girls loving it!

the night was extra special because we got to see the show with tina, soojin and fellow wicked fanatic, connie! :)

where's the baby??? karen and dave were nice enough to watch him while we took the girls to the show...thank you so much!!!

i love his cheeks...imagine sinking your teeth into these! it's wonderful! :)

this past weekend, our dear friends wayne & melanie got married in san francisco. we were honored that they asked hope & abi to stand as their flower girls. the girls' good buddies, matthew, christopher and andrew were the handsome ring bearers.

we had a GREAT lunch at la boulange, bay breads...the hummus sandwich and roasted tomato soup were amazing. bluebottle coffee company dripped their coffee right into each mug individually...nice strong flavor! i was so busy eating/drinking, i didn't take pictures!

i also had the BEST chocolate cake i've ever had...the BEST EVER! mark brought us cake and cupcakes from MIETTE...i want to go back to SF just to have this cake!
